Energy efficient technologies are only as good as the control system attached to them which is why leading underfloor heating specialist, Warmafloor, has developed an innovative and advanced control strategy to reduce whole-life building costs. It uses a state of the art touch screen console to afford users complete control of their property’s heating, cooling and hot water systems from a central location. This is the first ever responsive and programmable device in a single, easy to use package that manages multiple energy sources. This will result in less energy consumption, reduced emissions, lower running costs and greater levels of comfort.

With the increased popularity of apartment living in new buildings that utilise energy efficient technologies, rising energy prices and more regulations focusing on energy efficiency, there is an unprecedented focus on energy management systems and controls. It is often a challenge for architects and developers to best integrate the various control systems needed for boilers, underfloor heating, air conditioning, solar panels and heat pumps to ensure they deliver maximum benefit..

Warmafloor is the first underfloor heating company to address this issue. Its new system is intuitive and uses proportional–integral logic (PI) to optimise energy distribution and ensure a consistent temperature. A variable temperature system further enhances efficiency and comfort levels. In keeping with the Code for Sustainable Homes requirements, electrical usage is monitored and displayed. Mike Lamb, Managing Director of Warmafloor said,

The system ensures that the most expensive energy sources are used only when required and will help to meet ambitious government CO2 reduction and renewable energy targets. The system is accurate to within 0.5C, as opposed to the 4C band of usual thermostats.

Warmafloor’s control strategy is tailor-made to meet individual demands and can accommodate as many heat sources and technologies as required. Integrating control of boilers, heat pumps, solar panels, air conditioning and even garden lights and sprinklers into one central control panel will simplify and speed up what is currently a a complex and costly exercise.

Touch Screen Control

Central Control: Centrally control all elements of the heating, cooling and hot water managed via a simple to use touch screen interface.
Historical Log: Historical log of each zone and whole dwelling usagee.
Remote Access: Optional: Remote control over the internet from any location.
Electrical Metering: Optional: Electrical usage displayed in a daily, weekly or monthly period. Vacation: Vacation dates can be entered at the console months in advance.

Heating sources prioritised: The system priortises all energy source types seamlessly. Consequently more expensive energy sources are used only as required.

Comfort Features

Zone Temperature: Independant room temperature control per zone.
Programmable Timer: Individual zone scheduling to allow the homeowner complete adjustment for personal settings
Hot Water Boost: Hot water boost activates teh domestic hot water for 2 hours.
Optimistation: Optimisation is a mechanism that ensures zone temperatures are reached at teh scheduled times, including an automatic learning mode.
Frost Protection: The system protects against frost even when a zone is not in use.
