Warmafloor keeps old people cosy in Hampshire's 500 new nursing home beds.

The initiative, which has been developed in partnership with the County Council and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Strategic Health Authority, is at a cost of around £60 million. Two thirds of the funding for the building works comes from the Department of Health and Strategic Authority, with up to £20 million from the County Council.

The nursing homes are being built on 15 sites spread across the county to best serve Hampshire's elderly residents. The ground breaking £60 million project initiative called 'Enhance', thought to be the first of its kind in the country, has beds built on County Council land attached to its Social Services residential homes, with some on NHS land.

Some of the new buildings consist of two storey bedroomed nursing homes with en suite facilities, communal lounges and assisted bathrooms, occupational therapy rooms, medical rooms, and staff offices, together with full refurbishment of the existing homes.

Warmafloor have been heavily involved right from the initial concept of the care centres in close collaboration with Hampshire County Council to provide a bespoke design for each project, to ensure the most effective and environmentally efficient heating system, to help the authority to comply with local government's agenda 21 policy.

Warmafloor's brief was to design & install an underfloor heating system that gives maximum comfort conditions to Hampshire's aging population.
Construction consists of traditional foundations which will support a light weight steel framed building. The envelope will be a mixture of brick panels and timber boarding, the ground floors are to be of a beam and block installation, with the first floors being concrete and metal decking.

Each Development will have Warmafloor's specialist underfloor heating system, which is fed directly from strategic riser positions, allowing greater ease of access and commissioning.
The Enhance Project utilises Warmafloor's "Tacker System" for securing pipework to the insulation in the floor level.
Warmafloor are responsible for the design and installation of the underfloor heating as well as all the floor screeding throughout the projects
The Developments will have secure landscaped courtyard areas with raised garden beds, water features, lighting, seating and sensory planting provided for residents. The new low profile buildings are constructed from materials in keeping with the existing homes.
