The Bre Building

THE BUILDING FEATURES INNOVATIVE BUILDING DESIGN TO ACHIEVE ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS

1: DAYLIGHTING

The use of daylighting has been maximised with solar gain being
Reduced by moveable external louvers on the south side of the building

2: NATURAL VENTILATION

This had been utilised to minimise the use of fans with solar gain being reduced by moveable external louvers on the south side of the building.

3: NIGHT AND GROUNDWATER UNDERFLOOR COOLING

Air conditioning has generally been avoided by exposing the ceiling slab. The slab absorbs heat during the day and is cooled down by the ventilation at night. Pipes embedded in the floor can provide additional cooling utilising groundwater.

4: LIGHTING

A fully integrated, intelligent and efficient lighting system automatically compensates for daylight levels and occupancy.

5: CONTROLS

The operation of the building system is controlled automatically using the latest integrated technology. Occupants have a high degree of individual heating. In addition they can manually open mid-level windows.

6: PHOTOVOLTAIC ARRAY

The 47m2 Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIVP) array incorporated in the Environmental building provides non-polluting electricity directly to the building,
Utilising thin film amorphous silicon cells.

Warmafloor Systems and Technology are at the forefront of most leading and innovative advances in technology using embedded pipework. The Warmafloor cooling system utilised in this project is one of several systems included in ground breaking new building technology.
