Whiteley Primary School
The new drama hall at Hampshire County Councils Whitely school, near Portsmouth sports a beautiful polished wood floor that would be the envy of many a school. And in this case beauty is much more than skin deep, because it combines good looks with an energy efficient heating installation that is set to save the school thousands in running costs over the coming years.
Beneath the quality Junkers floor is hidden a Warmafloor underfloor heating system, especially developed for use with sprung floors. The system consists of a carefully designed grid of Warmafloor underfloor pipe through which water is circulated. This grid requires only minimal energy input to achieve even distribution of heat throughout the building . Running costs are expected to be up to 30% lower than for conventional radiator systems and the underfloor option has the added benefit of keeping wall space free from obstructions since there are no surface components.
Underfloor systems are more commonly used in concrete floors but Warmafloor has developed designs which cab be used with a wide range of floor constructions.
